We live in a world that is constantly plugging in and powering up: a world with a large, growing demand for energy. With that demand has come a dependence on the entities that supply that energy, and those entities are completely within their right to use whichever source of energy that can sustain that demand.

 

So far, the green energy movement has been all pointing fingers at these big companies for the oil crisis, global warming, and most other energy-related issues of the 21st century. The solution to this does not lie in pestering these companies, because they have little reason to change. Change needs to be incentivized or else it wont happen. 

 

FLOWER incentivizses change. It is a device that uses green technology to solve a practical issue: the constant need for power.

Technology

Our patented Polymer Photovoltaic System cell (PPVS) is derived from a study published by the journal of applied physics (pictured left), which uses a donor-accepter pair of polymers to achieve higher fill factors than traditional cells, which in turn increase efficiency. They are also easy to process, and are able to be processed in large quantities inexpensively.

The synthesis of the polymers is a very precise, yet relatively simple called microstructure layering. The key to this technique that gives our PPVS system its high efficiency is optimizing the distance between layers ,which allows the PPVY to genertate the photocurrent with less resistance.

The stucturing of the cell is also vital to its function. By stacking donor and acceptor polymers in a density gradient between each electrode, the area that photons can create charge extraction is increased without risking reverse leakage between the cathode and the anode. This is an area where polymer cells have a big advantage over traditional metal cells. 

This solar cell charges a hydrogen fuel cell battery, and has four micro-usb outlets that can be used to charge every type of electronic device or appliance.
